Wash House Socials FAQ

Using social media is an essential way for The Wash House to profile itself and spread the word about groups, events and news and communicate with the local and wider communities but also key to promoting it as a venue for new hires and make it more resilient.

Below are some how to’s, good practice and ways to make share the effort along with some continuity in content The Wash House puts out there.

If you would like to add the Wash House logo please find it here. This is a transparent web ready .png you can add to your mobile and import into any editing app you may use. Please make sure the logo stays and and round.

It is a page, not a group we post from and as of Oct '24 has 1.4K followers.

How to post: There are two ways for you to post to Facebook. By either a) logging into the Facebook via the Wash House profile (blue logo) then switching to the Wash House page (yellow logo). Go ahead and post as you are now logged in on the page i.e. you post while using the page (yellow) not the profile (blue). OR if you are on Facebook then The Wash House account can invite your profile access to the page and you can simply switch from your own login. To do this please discuss with committee.

2B) About Instagram:

Instagram offers different approaches to desktop or mobile posting. Its important to know which has limitations.

Posts - Appear on followers feed & on profile grid. Images, video and now carousels have up to 20 slides. These can be images, videos, or a mix of both
Stories - Stories disappear after 24 hours, so they’re great for timely updates, promotions, etc. They are vertical format.
Reels - Reels are particularly powerful because they are often shown to users who don’t follow you, which can help increase your reach. They are vertical format.

Instagram Video length:
Posts: Between 3 seconds and 60 minutes.
Instagram Stories: Up to 15 seconds per story clip.
Instagram Reels: Up to 3 minutes.

If posting to Instagram from device:

Mobile

  • you can add music to photos or meta tags to content

  • asfasfad

Desktop

  • the desktop interface lacks many advanced editing features on the mobile app. This can be a drawback when enhancing photos or videos before posting.

  • Posting Instagram Stories or Reels is more complicated on a desktop, usually requiring extra steps or apps.

  • Easier to type!

3) Good practice

3A) Instagram Collaborations! You can invite The Wash House to collaborate on your posts and reels. These are feed posts that can shared by multiple accounts on the platform. The original author invites other accounts to collaborate when creating the post. If the collaborators accept the invitation, the post will be shared on all their feeds. Please note, Instagram Collab posts differ from tags and mentions in that they are shared on your collaborator's feed and grid and with their followers.

To create a Collab post:

  1. Start by clicking the "+" sign to create a new post and upload your post or Reel.

  2. Fill out the caption and add any desired features like locations or hashtags.

  3. Tap on "Tag people" and then select "Invite collaborator." If posting from a desktop it at ‘Share’ stage see option for ‘Add collaborators’.

  4. Search for the account and click on their profile. Repeat this step to add up to five other accounts.

  5. Tap "Done," then "Share." Collaborators will receive a notification inviting them to participate in the post.

For a collaborator to accept the invite, the collaborator needs to tap on the messages icon in the top right of the Instagram app. Select the conversation with your collaborator to view the request. Tap the collaboration invitation, then tap "Review" and "Accept" to confirm.
